Utah fire crews hard at work as wildfires continue to burn throughout the state

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah fire crews are working around the clock after wildfires continue to impact many Utahns.
The two major wildfires, the West Valley fire and the Fruitland fire, are causing the biggest problems for residents.
The West Valley fire is located just north of Pine Valley and is believed to be 2,500 acres. The Fruitland fire in Duchesne County has destroyed three buildings – including two homes.

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for the majority of Utah due to dry conditions and high winds. The warning remains in effect until 10 p.m. Friday.

With cooler evening temperatures Wednesday night, firefighters were able to make some progress on the Dry Canyon Fire, near Parowan in Iron County. The fire is estimated at 30 acres.

With the Fourth of July less than a week away, officials are urging residents to take extra precautions with fireworks. While some areas don’t currently have outdoor burning restrictions, the exercise of caution is recommended.
