Wednesday’s Child: Tommy Wants Family To Love; People Who Love Him

SALT LAKE CITY – It’s been an incredible season for skiers, and one new skier hoped to experience the greatest snow on Earth for himself at Snowbird Mountain Resort. He certainly looked the part, decked out in ski gear and accompanied by an instructor.

As the 14-year-old hit the slopes, his smile grew.

“So, we’re just going to kind of slide around,” the ski instructor said to Tommy.

Tommy’s been skiing once before.

“The worst part is probably falling down,” Tommy said with a giggle.

However, when he was asked what he wanted to do for his Wednesday’s Child segment, he said he wanted to give the winter sport another try.

“It’s just so fun,” he said. “It’s a little cold, but mostly fun.”

Days like this don’t happen often for Tommy.

“I’ve been in foster care since I was 10, almost 11,” he said.

Like skiing, Tommy said living in foster care is a little tough, and there’s certainly some falling down, but he’s trying to get the hang of living in state custody.

“You get so used to one family, and when you have to move, you just don’t know what to think,” Tommy said. “You also just don’t know what you should think.”

He was willing to let KSL follow him on the slopes and ask him some tough questions.

“I’m really hoping to get adopted,” he said.

He’s hoping there is a family out there willing to give him a chance.

“I would bring responsibility, good behavior, and love to a family,” he said. “I know I would.”

Maybe one day a family would bring him back to Snowbird.

“I want a family who I can call parents, and somewhere I can call home,” he said. “I don’t want to be bouncing around homes my whole life. I want to actually have a real home. I want to have someone to love me and people I can love too.”
