The option to work from home has become an essential one. Adequate and well thought out remote environments can provide lasting solutions for companies that want to maintain and even increase the productivity of their business. Here are 5 ways to create a productive remote work environment for your employees.

Find a Way to Replicate Office Experience at Home

Creating a workspace at home similar to the office can seem like a challenge. However, there are ways to make the transition between home and office a seamless one. You with the laptop or PC you provide for your employee’s workspace.

A great option for your employee’s home office is a desktop PC. First, it is a good option because many users are used to a PC computer because that is what they use in the office.  Another great reason to buy a desktop PC is its price-performance value. They are typically less expensive with a high computing value. Most PCs available today are much smaller than they used to be, with better performance. They will not take up a lot of space in your employee’s home office!

If a desktop PC is not the right option for your employee’s remote workstation, you may consider providing a laptop that can be doubled for home AND office use. The main benefit of a laptop is that they are lightweight and your employee has the ability to work from anywhere.  We recommend having a docking station in the office, and one at home. A docking station typically includes a monitor, keyboard, and mouse hook up. This is a great way to enhance a remote work environment. A docking station feels like working off a PC computer, but it is a single mobile unit that can be moved in between the office and home setups.

Set Up a Document Management Software

A good document management solution can allow you to store and access business documents from anywhere at any time.  All you need is a Document Management Software (DMS) that is a one-stop-shop for creating easy and secure remote document access for your employees.

This service is helpful even while employees are not working from home. It can prevent document inconsistencies, promote enhanced organization for projects and eliminate redundancies in the workplace. Be sure that you are working with shared documents in real-time through a cloud-based Document Management Software.

Set Up Employees With Unified Communication

Even while a business is working remotely, it is important to ensure that customers and partners are able to communicate with your business through existing contact numbers. Your business will need phone calls answered remotely to not miss any opportunities to engage with customers.

With Unified Communication, employees can answer redirected calls from their home office stations via their own cell phone!

Employees can also stay connected to their team members and managers through integrated phone meetings and team messaging.

Remote Work Tools

Investing in remote work services such as Office 365 and G Suite is a great way to ensure your employees have the tools they need to do their job from home. These services also provide open lines of communication with group chat, meetings, and video conferencing. Office 365 offers access to all the latest versions of things like Outlook email, Word, Excel, etc. G Suite provides your employees with Gmail, Sheets, Docs, and more.

Software Security & Remote Access

Keeping your business liability-free is just as important- if not more important-  while working remotely. Phishing, malware and other threats on the internet make consistent device monitoring and threat management absolutely essential. Avoid a data breach with software security and remote access.
