SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Democratic challenger Greg Skordas has conceded the race for Utah Attorney General to Republican Sean Reyes.
Reyes led Skordas by more than 246,000 votes or 25% as of Tuesday night at 11:30 p.m.
“I think what was important for us was just all of the people who came to me, and came to us, and said thanks for giving us a choice,” Skordas said. “Thanks for having a candidate that we could vote for.”
Reyes was appointed Utah Attorney General in 2013 and was elected in 2016.
“I’d like to thank the voters in Utah for participating in record numbers through mail-in and in-person balloting,” Reyes said. “Regardless of party or ideology, our state and nation are stronger when more of us educate ourselves on candidates and issues and participate in elections. It is exciting to see. No matter the outcome, hopefully we can remember those things that unite us as Utahns and Americans. And when all the ballots are counted, I look forward to serving four more years as attorney general, protecting Utah and all who live in this great state.”
