Salt Lake County reports that it has counted 10,005 of its 11,270 provisional ballots. They also have about 2,000 mail-in ballots that are waiting for voters to fix signature issues.
Utah County has yet to open and count its provisional ballots. They have a total of 7,157 provisional ballots remaining plus approximately 7,000 other military and vote-by-mail ballots that need to be processed.
It was unclear how many of those ballots will impact this race.
“The 4th Congressional District has always been a close race,” Utah Elections Director Justin Lee said Thursday. “Even before vote-by-mail, we didn’t usually know the outcome of the 4th Congressional District until right at that canvass deadline, which is two weeks after the election. So this is not surprising in any way.”
