Brush Fire Caused By Fireworks Threatened Homes In Cedar City

CEDAR CITY, Utah — A large brush fire reportedly caused by fireworks broke out dangerously close to homes in Cedar City.
The blaze started in a big open field, southwest of buildings located at 4100 W. Center Street around 3:21 p.m.
It stretched across 18 acres, threatening a total of 30 homes.
Members of Cedar City Fire, Parowan Fire, Brian Head Fire, Beryl Fire, State of Utah, Bureau of Land Management, Cedar City Police Department, Iron County Sheriff’s Office and Gold Cross responded to the scene.
One firefighter was injured with burns to his face. Chief Mike Phillips of the Cedar City Fire Department said he was treated on scene and released.
Luckily, no one else was injured and no structures were damaged.
Officials are investigating who started the fire.
