Fire Crews Battle New Wildfire In Tooele County

TOOELE, Utah — Firefighters were called out in Tooele County after a wildfire broke out in a remote area north of Interstate 80 and west of the Great Salt Lake.
The Little Pass Fire started just before 2 p.m. Sunday.
As of 8:30 p.m., the blaze was estimated at about 4,000 acres, according to Tooele County Fire Warden Dan Walton with the Utah Division of Forestry Fire & State Lands.
The #littlepassfire is currently at 3500 acres, and spreading slowly. Crews from North Tooele, Grantsville, @BLMUtah and The Tooele County Fire Warden are working into the night to contain the blaze.

Officials with the North Tooele Fire District said crews were actively working the fire near Rowley, Utah – an unincorporated town about 20 miles north of the interstate between Tooele and Wendover.
Hannah Lenkowski with BLM said the fire was burning uphill into sparser vegetation.
Crews from North Tooele, Grantsville, the Bureau of Land Management and the Tooele County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the blaze.

In a tweet sent Sunday afternoon, state fire officials said crews were making good progress on the blaze.
Lenkowski said it was 70% contained as of 8 p.m. Sunday.
No injuries have been reported and no structures were threatened.

Officials said the cause of the fire was under investigation, but they know it was definitely human-caused.
