SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah’s Governor, Senate President, and House Leader released a joint statement indicating their support for Israel during the current conflict in the Gaza Strip.
“We condemn the senseless bloodshed perpetrated by Hamas. Israel has every right to defend its land and citizens,” the statement read. “We stand firmly behind Israel and we pray for peace to return to the region very soon.”
The Israelis launched another heavy wave of airstrikes against Hamas leaders Monday.
The Biden Administration said it would not push for a cease-fire at this time.
The FBI sent letters last week to Salt Lake City area synagogues and other Jewish organizations telling them to be on heightened alert.
On Sunday morning someone scratched a swastika into the glass door of Chabad Lubavitch of Utah near 1700 South and 1100 East.
Police have reviewed surveillance video but have not arrested a suspect.
