SPRINGDALE, Utah — Crews have recovered the body of a 26-year-old woman in Zion National Park.
Search and rescue operations began Saturday afternoon after officials said park visitors reported finding a female canyoneer that had fallen 50 to 80 feet in Mystery Canyon.
Several areas of the park, including Riverside Walk and the Narrows, were temporarily closed Sunday while crews tried to locate her.
ADDITIONAL CLOSURES – Mystery and Orderville Canyons are temporarily closed due to the ongoing Search & Rescue operation in The Narrows.

A helicopter was then called out to the area, but it was unable to reach the woman because of the steep, narrow canyon walls.
“Park Medics were able to reach the Patient shortly before she succumbed to her injuries,” read a press release Sunday evening from Zion National Park.
The incident remains under investigation.
