Wasatch Co. Family Remembers Mother Killed In Fiery Heber City Crash

HEBER CITY, Utah — A Wastach County family was left heartbroken after a fiery crash on U.S. Highway 189 in Heber City claimed the life of Amy Nelson — their mother, sister and friend — as well as two teenage girls.

Nelson’s family said they hope other people live their lives to the fullest in honor of Amy.

“We were just home,” said Angela Hubbard, Amy’s sister-in-law. “Kinda found out about it and were just in disbelief.”

Hubbard said Nelson wasn’t just family, she was her friend. 

“I think the hardest part is just that there is no shoes that could ever be filled, said Hubbard. “There is just a hole. Everyone’s heart has a hole that will never be filled.”

Nelson has six other siblings, a loving husband, and a daughter named Morgan that was her world. 

“We just lost something so special. There will never be another Amy, and I think that is what is hard is imagining going forward without her,” said Hubbard.

Nelson was known for her adventurous personality and deep compassion for others.

“She was just so fun,” said Hubbard.

Nelson was there for everyone.

“Everyone is just heartbroken because everyone loved her and she loved them back,” said Hubbard.

And it’s that feeling that Nelson’s family said they hope others can bring into their lives.

“That’s our wish is that everyone can love like Amy and spread a little love throughout the world,” said Hubbard.
