UPDATE: Police have identified the victim as Jacob Hansen and an arrest has been made in connection to this shooting.

WEST JORDAN, Utah — Police say they are searching for multiple suspects after a 17-year-old boy was shot and killed Monday morning.

A few neighbors told KSL-TV they heard about a half-dozen shots, some said they heard screaming, around 10:30 a.m near 3500 West and 8200 South.

The 17-year-old was transported to the hospital, where police said he died from his injuries.

Investigators said they have some good leads, pointing them to some male suspects who they believe are in their teens to early 20s.

Animal control was called out to remove some dogs to avoid contaminating evidence at the house.

Four nearby schools were put on a very brief lockout Monday morning as a precaution.

One neighbor said there have been problems with noise and police callouts at the home before.

For now, investigators are not releasing a lot of information about what happened or the people involved.

“We do have some video evidence and that, so we do have a sense of what occurred, however, due to this being such an early stage in investigation, I’m not able to go into a lot of details right now,” said Deputy Chief Rich Bell with the West Jordan Police Department.

According to the Jordan School District, the teen suspect was only enrolled there for a brief time, adding that he’s not currently enrolled as a student.

Teachers and staff that would have known him have been notified.

Police said they’re going to follow through on several leads before releasing any more information on what happened.
