WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah – The first day after Gov. Spencer Cox said all Utahns 18 and older could get a booster shot, people started to show up to a drive-through clinic in West Valley City.
“I work for a chiropractor, so I just wanted to do everything I could to keep a patient safe,” said Patricia Carrill as she waited for her shot Friday.
Karen Roseberg said, “I am going to Mexico in two weeks, so I thought I would get it.”
Roseberg got her first COVID-19 shot in January.
She made an appointment as soon as the boosters became available.
“When you watch the news, I thought it would be a good idea,” she said.
The NOMI location in West Valley City offers Pfizer, Moderna, as well as Johnson and Johnson shots.
Appointments are not required, although you can schedule one if you’d like.
The U.S. recommended booster shots Friday to all adults, and urged people 50 and older to get one ahead of any winter surge in cases.
Doctors said the booster will increase protection against the virus, but does not make you immune to getting the disease.
They recommend resting for a day once you get the booster in case you feel any side effects.
You can find out where to get a booster shot at Utah’s coronavirus website.
