SUNDANCE, Utah — Skiers flocked to the mountains during Monday’s holiday snowstorm.
Sundance Mountain Resort said it was one of its busiest Mondays of the 2021-2022 season.
“There is a lot of excitement,” said Blain Wilkey, spokesperson for Sundance Mountain Resort.
Wilkey is talking about the snow, but also the updates Sundance has made to its ski area.
After Robert Redford announced he was selling the resort in 2020, the new owners created a renovation plan, pumping almost $20 million in the 52-year-old resort.
Renovations include: two new ski lifts, the retirement of the Rays lift, upgrades to snowmaking, more parking, renovations to the Creekside building, and a new restaurant.
“We have nearly doubled the season pass holders,” Wilkey said comparing to last year.
He says as Sundance enters its new chapter, a focus will remain on the locals that have supported the resort for decades.
