Adware is a type of computer malware that is designed to generate revenue for the author by displaying advertisements. It can be installed on a computer in a number of ways, including through drive-by downloads or when the user clicks on a malicious link. Once installed, the adware will typically begin displaying advertisements on the user’s desktop, in their web browser, or in other applications. Some adware will also track the user’s web browsing activity and send this data to third-party advertisers.

Spyware

Spyware is a specific type of malware that is designed to covertly collect information about the user or their computer. One of the most common ways spyware is installed on a computer is through infected email attachments or by clicking on malicious links. Once installed, spyware can track everything the user does online, including their web browsing history, passwords, and credit card numbers. It can also collect personal information like addresses and phone numbers. In addition to collecting information, spyware can also be used to install other types of malware on the computer or even take control of it.

A worm is a type of malware that can self-replicate and spread to other computers. For example, the Conficker worm infected millions of computers in 2009.
