Salt Lake County sets up cooling locations to escape ‘dangerous’ heatwave

SALT LAKE CITY — Increasing temperatures are so concerning this week that Salt Lake County set up several cooling stations where people can stay safe in the heat.
The so-called cool zones can be found in public buildings where residents can enjoy air conditioning, stay hydrated, and protect their health.
A county news release said people can cool their bodies but also cool their power bills as air conditioners will be working overtime.
The Phoenix office of the National Weather Service warned that a “dangerous and deadly heat wave” will cook much of the Southwest through the weekend.
“Don’t underestimate the heat! Heat is one of the most deadly weather hazards, so be sure to practice heat safety this week,” the Sacramento National Weather Service tweeted.
