Wednesday’s Child: Angel wants to have a forever family

DRAPER, Utah – At Loveland Living Plant Aquarium there is one creature that 12-year-old Angel just had to see – the sloth.

“She’s in here, oh found her. She’s right there!”

Angel says she loves sloths because they move at the same pace she sometimes does.

“They’re like me in the mornings when I don’t want to get up in the morning.”

Waking up can be hard for anyone, especially a teenager, which is what Angel is about to me. But reaching that milestone in life is a little intimidating to Angel who says it means more responsibility.

“I’m a bit scared, but like I’m also happy about it.”

Angel, short for Angela, turns 13 this summer and she doesn’t want to spend her next birthday in foster care. She’s been living in foster care since 2017.

“My very first foster home I had three dogs, 24 chickens, two roosters, two ducks and one cat.”

Living in foster care has had its ups and downs, according to Angel. She’s loved having animals, but she misses her family.

“It’s hard watching your parents go and not having them be by you when you’re like sad.”

Angel says she wants to build a new future with a family that will love and support her.

“Family means to me is like people that love you and care about you and when you’re sad they make you happy.”

Angel says she is happy when she’s reading, and spending time with animals. She hopes to go to college somewhere and one day be a judge or a lawyer so she can help other kids living in foster care.

“It was my judge all the time I’ve been in foster care he’s helped me through what’s happened.”

Angel wants her future family to know that her heart is open and she hope to make a connection soon.

“I’m caring and loving and kind.” To learn more about Angel, please contact Raise the Future at 801-265-0444 or visit their website.
