TOOELE COUNTY, Utah — A young father was killed this weekend after a terrible crash at a desert-type race in Tooele County.
CJ Glover, 33, was wearing a helmet and protective gear, strapped into the passenger seat of a truck when it rolled, killing CJ, according to the Tooele County Sheriff’s Office.
“I was at his house watching his kids, all the sudden someone knocked on the front door and the four-year-old said somebody is at the door poppy,” said Anthony Glover, CJ’s father.
It was the delivery of devastating news.
“And I said I’m CJ’s dad and they said I hate to let you know this but CJ passed away,” Glover said.
It was the first time CJ had attended an event like this. The young father was at the Knolls 200 in Tooele County on Saturday when he got off the phone with his dad just after 6 a.m.
“I said have fun be safe and he just says dad you’re the best dad,” Anthony said.
That was the last time he’d hear from his son. Less than an hour later the truck CJ was in rolled, killing him but leaving the driver without any life-threatening injuries.
“I woke up this morning and I thought it was still a dream. Nobody should go through this. Why? Why?” Anthony said.
CJ is the fourth child Anthony and his wife have lost in an accident.
“I can’t do this again. Nobody should go through this four times I said this is not right,” Anthony said.
Now CJ’s wife is a widow with two young children.
“If you are talking about love on a ten scale that was love on a ten scale he supported everything she did she supported him. That was a perfect relationship,” Anthony said.
He said CJ seemed to have countless friends.
“I wish everybody had a chance to know him and know what kind of person he was cause if they knew him they would do anything to help out his family that he’s left behind,” said Josh Unice, CJ’s lifelong friend.
A son, a husband, a father, a friend. Now gone.
“I don’t know — where do you go from here? Just have us in your prayers,” Anthony said.
The Tooele County Sheriff’s Office is now investigating the incident.
Loved ones have set up a way you can help CJ’s family during this time with this GoFundMe.*
