Community shows support for 6-year-old killed in I-215 crash
HOLLADAY, Utah — Dozens gathered Friday afternoon to put up red ribbons and show their support for a family after a 6-year-old boy died from injuries suffered in a multi-car pile-up on Interstate 215.
On Thursday, officials with the Utah Highway Patrol said a car-hauler collided with at least five other vehicles that were slowed or stopped in afternoon traffic on westbound I-215 near 500 East in Midvale.
According to family members on a GoFundMe* post, 6-year-old Edison Kimball died in the crash, while his mother and sisters all suffered injuries.
“We wanted to flood the neighborhood with a sea of red — that’s Eddie’s favorite color!” said Beth Fielding, who helped to mobilize other neighbors and friends to come out to a church parking lot to help cut and tie red ribbons in memory of Edison and in support of the boy’s family. “They still have a very long road to go until they’re home and starting their healing process.”

Several children from Eddie’s elementary school also helped do their part, including Tenley Wood.
“Most people were crying, some people were really sad,” Wood said of her classmates. “We’re really thinking about them right now!”
Organizers hoped to send a clear message to the Kimball family.
“There’s so many people thinking about them, sending love, sending prayers,” Fielding said. “They’re just ready to help in any way they can.”
