An attempt to open a quarry in Parley Canyon resulted in a Salt Lake County Council unanimous vote to ban mining in in area canyons and foothills. The quarry was opposed in writing by hundreds of citizens and the council’s decision was praised by Salt Lake County Mayor Jenny Wilson.
