SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — We are only hours from 2019. Whether you plan to ring in the New Year at a large celebration or a more intimate gathering, there are things to remember to stay safe.
If you will be on the roads tonight, please don’t drink and drive. Plan a ride in advance so you’re not tempted to make a very bad decision. Several companies such as Triple A offer Tipsy Tow rides. You can also arrange a cab or rideshare service to get you where you need to go.
Even if you don’t plan to drink tonight, be very cautious on the roads and drive defensively. Police will be out enforcing the traffic laws to ensure your safety, but be sure to do your part as well. There will be a lot of tired drivers late into the night.
If you are hosting a party at your home, it’s a great idea to help arrange in advance how your guests will get home if you will be serving alcohol.
If your children are headed out to celebrate – make sure you know where they will be, who they will be with and when they plan to be home. Set clear rules to ensure their safety.
They key to a safe celebration is preparation. Make a plan and stick to it.
And most importantly, have a wonderful new year!
