TONGA –  Cold, wind, rain and a late Wednesday night didn’t stop Latter-day Saints in Tonga from showing up along the roadside to welcome their prophet to their country.

One group used a generator to light up a sign which read: “We Thank Thee O God for Our Prophet.”

President Russell M. Nelson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints arrived on the island at about 10 p.m. local time after meeting with church members in Fiji.

“It’s the first time I get to meet the prophet face to face,” said one member just minutes before he drove by. “I can’t wait.”

Sione Folau Langi told KSL’s Dan Rascon that it is a “great blessing” to have the prophet come to town.
