1. Dinosaur National Monument

Just outside of Vernal, UT is Dinosaur National Monument. The site includes over 800 paleontological sites where fossils of Allosaurus, Apatosaurus, Camarasaurus, and Stegosaurus have been unearthed. Some of the most complete dinosaur fossils have been found here. The centerpiece is the incredible Quarry Exhibit Hall’s fossil wall. There you can see over 1,500 fossilized dinosaur bones in one place.

2. Timpanogos Cave National Monument

Timpanogos Cave National Monument is one of Utah’s best-kept secrets. The caves themselves are super colorful. And they have an incredible bat population. After creating a new visitor’s center, the trail and caves re-opened as of June 2019. The trail is paved all the way to the caves, but it can get pretty steep. Wear good shoes. And prepared for 100°F on the trail, and 45°F in the cave itself. You can only tour the cave in the summer. are only offered during the summer. Make sure to buy your tickets in advance because weekends sell out quickly.

3. Golden Spike National Historical Park

An hour and a half drive north and you’ll find yourself at one of the most historical places in Utah: Golden Spike National Historical Park. It’s been 150 years since the country’s western and eastern railway systems were united in Promontory, UT. Although the larger 150th celebration is over, reenactments take place on Saturdays and Holidays from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Plus, you can see demonstrations of replicas of the mighty Jupiter and 119 locomotives from May through October.
