Missionaries From Utah, Montana Killed In New Mexico Car Crash

FARMINGTON, N.M. — Two missionaries serving for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have died following a car crash in New Mexico. A third was listed in stable condition.
Church officials said 20-year-old Elder Tyson Gene Haycock, of Miles City, Montana, and 20-year-old Elder Michael Austin Davis, of Corinne, Utah, died Thursday due to injuries sustained in the crash.
Both elders were serving in the New Mexico Farmington Mission.
“Our deepest sympathies go to the families of these faithful missionaries, and we express our love and condolences to all who love them,” said Church spokesman Sam Penrod. “We pray that their families, friends, and the missionaries they have served alongside, will all feel God’s love and peace, during this difficult time.”
A third missionary in the vehicle, 19-year-old Elder Britton Jeremie Berrett, of Roberts, Idaho, sustained serious injuries but is in stable condition and being treated at a hospital in Albuquerque.
New Mexico authorities said the crash is under investigation.
Elder Haycock’s missionary service began in June 2021 while Elder Davis had been serving as a missionary since August 2019.
