OGDEN — Construction resumes Jan. 3 on the Utah Transit Authority’s new 5.3-mile Ogden Express (OGX) system. The project, which will connect the Ogden FrontRunner Station to the Junction, is scheduled to become operational in 2023. Other planned stations include Downtown Ogden, 25th Street, Harrison Boulevard, Weber State University and McKay-Dee Hospital. The route features 1.5 miles of dedicated bus lines through the center of Harrison Boulevard and the Weber State campus. Eleven clean-air buses will serve 22 stations approximately every 15 minutes.
Ongoing construction requires the closing of 25th Street between Jefferson Avenue and Washington Boulevard. It’s expected to remain that way until the late spring of 2022 to accommodate the building of a Jefferson Avenue Station and the rapid transit line.
Access to 25th Street will be maintained for Porter Avenue business traffic, residents and service vehicles — although detoured to 24th and 26th streets — under the direction of flag crews. Designated side-street parking will be available, as will North-South access on Adams and Jefferson avenue adjacent to 25h Street. Sidewalk access will also be maintained.
All aboard the Ogden Express! UTA, Ogden City and Weber State University leaders gathered together to reveal that Ogden Express will be the name of the rapid bus transit system that will connect UTA's Ogden FrontRunner station and Weber State University.https://t.co/hCybWOg97n
