SALT LAKE CITY — Jefferson Park just got greener. Volunteers planted 41 trees Wednesday morning to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the McGillis School in Salt Lake City.
About 550 volunteers including almost 400 students showed up with shovels in hand to dig in the dirt.
Jen Voros, Director of Philanthropy at the McGillis School, said organizers want the tree planting to become an annual event.
“One of our values is repairing the world, and we wanted to give our kids an opportunity to do
something actionable to really help repair our community and city,” Voros said.
The school partnered with Tree Utah, a local nonprofit that helped source the trees, determine which park to plant in, as well as help educate the community about proper tree planting.
