SLC firefighters knock down grass fire near Ensign Peak

SALT LAKE CITY — Fire crews were able to quickly control a grass fire that burned 3-4 acres on Ensign Peak.
Battalion Chief, Dan Walker with the Salt Lake City Fire Department said around 20 firefighters responded to the blaze, which started around 4 a.m. Friday.
Crews were working to put out hotspots and investigators were working to determine what caused the fire.
No injuries were reported.
The grass fire started just a few hours before fireworks become legal for Pioneer Day weekend.
Fireworks can be used between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. from Friday through Monday. That period is extended through midnight on Pioneer Day.
