MAGNA, Utah — A first-grade teacher is facing four felony charges of aggravated sexual abuse of a child.

According to arrest documents, Dale Andreason, 70, was reported by the victim’s mother for inappropriately touching the female minor during a Super Bowl party on Feb. 13.

The victim’s mother also stated she was a victim of sexual assault from Andreason when she was a minor, along with two other family members.

According to documents, the victim’s mother claims that Andreason admitted to another family member that he sexually assaulted her and “had fantasies about children he teaches but has not acted on them.”

Police interviewed other family members and found possible more victims within the victim’s family, but none were students of Andreason.

In the documents, police mention that Andreason also volunteers at a church where he supervises teachers who work with 11 and 12-year-old children.

Elk Run Elementary confirmed that Anderson works for them as a first-grade teacher and provided this statement:

We were recently notified and wanted to alert you regarding some disturbing information from the West Valley Police  Department, wherein our 1st grade teacher, Mr. Andreason was arrested this morning on some very serious charges involving inappropriate contact with a minor. We are still gathering information on this matter, but we were notified several days ago that an investigation was ensuing and he was placed on leave at that time. It is believed that the suspected illegal behavior is limited to family members.

Student safety is our primary concern and we take these charges very seriously. We have received no indication from WVCPD that our students were involved. However, if you have further information or concerns, we encourage you to contact the WVCPD. They can be reached at 801-963-3300.

We thank you for your patience and support  as we work through this issue.
