TAYLORSVILLE, Utah — A small groundbreaking ceremony was held for the Taylorsville Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The gathering took place on Saturday with a limited audience.
Officials said the temple will be built on a 7.5-acre site located at 2603 West 4700 South, and will include a center spire.
Church President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to build the Taylorsville Utah Temple in the October 2019 General Conference.
The three-story, 70,000-square-foot structure marks the 25th temple to be constructed in Utah.
Additional temples have been announced in Lindon, Syracuse, Tooele Valley, and Washington County (Red Cliffs).
The Layton, Orem, and Saratoga Springs temples are currently under construction.
Officials said a video recording for the temple groundbreaking would be made available to the public within a few days.
