7-Day Average For Positive COVID Tests Drops Below 20%

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Health officials reported 1,302 more Utahns have tested positive for COVID-19, and seven more have died as a result of the virus.
New cases continue to decline in the state, and the weeklong average for positive tests has now dipped below 20% for the first time in months.
There are currently 573 hospitalized with COVID-19.
Testing
According to the Utah Department of Health, 1,911,870 people have been tested for the virus so far. That’s an increase of 4,961 people tested since yesterday.
Of those, a total of 326,221 people have tested positive for the virus. That’s an increase of 1,302 cases since Monday’s report.
The rolling 7-day average for positive tests is 2,033 per day, and the rolling 7-day average for percent of positive laboratory tests is 19.9%.

Hospitalizations
There are currently 573 people hospitalized with confirmed cases of COVID-19, and 216 of those people are in intensive care units. Another 65 people are hospitalized with suspected cases of COVID-19.
Utah’s ICUs are 88.5% full. That number, while still above the state’s threshold of 85% for quality ICU care, has dropped over the past several days.
The ICU beds in Utah’s referral centers are 91.2% full, which is also a drop from Sunday when they were 101% occupied.

Deaths
Seven more Utahns have lost their lives to COVID-19, which brings the state’s pandemic death toll to 1,507.
The nation is holding a moment of silence Tuesday to remember those who have been killed by the virus. In Utah, the bells at the Capitol Building will ring 15 times to honor the more than 1,500 residents who died from the coronavirus.

2 Women:
- older than 85, Salt Lake County resident, long-term care facility resident
- between 45-64, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
5 Men:
- between 65-84, Utah County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- between 65-84, Salt Lake County resident, long-term care facility resident
- between 65-84, Utah County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- between 65-84, Millard County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- between 45-64, Utah County resident, hospitalized at time of death

Vaccinations
There have been 172,603 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine administered in Utah so far. A total of 156,882 Utahns have received the first dose, and 15,721 residents have been fully immunized with both doses.
