SALT LAKE CITY — Wednesday is National Running Day, and there are a lot of races coming up this week to get you out the door and on the way to better health and wellness.
During the pandemic, you may have been reaching some personal fitness goals. But now it’s time to hit the pavement together.
“It really feels like the running community is finally coming back together as groups definitely this year,” said Cade Perry with the Salt Lake Running Company.
Perry said business was booming over the last year as people couldn’t work out at a gym or recreation center, so they opted to lace up the running shoes instead.
But now that the pandemic is waning, it’s time to race together again.
“Whether you think you’re a fast runner or you think you’re a slow runner, the feelings – physical, mental, emotional — all of them are the same and I think that’s really what everybody unites with,” he said.
You can unite with those seeking the runners high at several events coming up over the next few months.
Perry said their Park City Trail running and Nike Trail Challenge events are very popular in the summer.
If you look at Salt Lake Running.com in their events section, you’ll see races this week like the Moonlight 5K Firehose Frenzy in St. George on Friday or the Sand Hollow Marathon on Saturday.
Additional events include the Teton Dam Marathon in Rexburg, Idaho, the Smithfield Health Days and the SoJo Summerfest in South Jordan.
