SALT LAKE CITY — More storms are pumping into southern Utah leading to the potential for flash flooding across the southern part of Utah Tuesday and thunderstorms in northern Utah Wednesday.
“Tropical moisture seeps into southeast Utah allowing for showers and storms over the next 36 hours, could see some good rain totals down there. Thunderstorm chances go up for the Wasatch Front tomorrow afternoon and evening. Showers could linger into Thursday, then dry and clearing for the weekend,” KSL meteorologist Matt Johnson said Tuesday.
“Remnants of T.S. Madeline are making their way north and will connect with a California low. TUE-THU rain totals look impressive in SE Utah. Come WED-THU northern Utah, not as much tropical influence,” Johnson said.
The National Weather Service added, “Threat of Flash Flooding is increasing as storms are already beginning to develop in Southern Utah. Storms will increase in coverage Tuesday, and become more widespread on Wednesday.”

Flash flooding struck the Moab area late last month. It took nearly a week to clean up the mess. Mudd blocked multiple bridges and clogged storm drains.
