Man partially buried after trench collapses at Spanish Fork construction site

SPANISH FORK, Utah — A construction worker was partially buried after a trench collapsed at a Spanish Fork construction site Tuesday morning.
The accident happened at approximately 9:50 a.m. at 810 E. 1950 North, according to Spanish Fork Fire & EMS.
The 25-year-old man was found buried up to his waist but was conscious and speaking to first responders. He told them he was in severe pain and could not free himself.
“Construction crews were working in the trench that was 8’x6’x40′ for footings and foundation for a commercial building,” states the fire department press release. “Trench rescue crews were able to construct a safe trench box and extricated the victim in approximately two hours.”
Intermountain LifeFlight transported the man to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, and he is in stable condition.
