Police: Woman Kidnapped From Kearns Home Was Murdered; 2 In Custody

KEARNS, Utah – Police say a woman who was kidnapped from her Kearns home in the middle of the day on Feb. 6 was murdered.

Two men have been arrested in connection to the alleged homicide. Salt Lake County Sheriff Rosie Rivera said they are limiting the details they are releasing to protect the ongoing investigation.

Orlando Tobar, 29, and Jorge Medina, 21, were taken into custody Monday for investigation of aggravated kidnapping and aggravated murder.

Surveillance video from the day of the kidnapping showed Conzuelo “Nicole” Solorio-Romero being ushered into a car and driven away from her home in the area of 4800 West and 5400 South.

Investigators discovered she had been taken to a second location, where they said there was evidence she had been shot.

Additionally, investigators said a man, known to be involved in the case, told them “they were forced at gunpoint to assist Orlando (Tobar) in moving a dead body that was covered in plastic.”

According to a probable cause statement, they moved the body to Tobar’s white truck, which he then drove away, alone.

They told officers Tobar threatened to kill them and their family if they went to police. Detectives don’t know where he went.

Solorio-Romero’s body has not yet been found, but Rivera said they are continuing the search.

“We are not going to give up, we are going to continue to look for Nicole,” Rivera said. “It is our priority and anyone that has any information, please continue to contact us 801-743-7000 and we will take their calls. We want to make sure we are able to bring her home to her family as soon as possible.”

Rivera added police have located the white truck that was pictured outside the Kearns home and they do not need the public to call on it.
